Pan World Pump for 180

How many head feet will you have? The 50PX-X is only good for 13 feet or so since its not the PS series.

I had a Panworld 100px-x (1270 gph) on my i80. It did a great job but I have the system in my den and my wife really didn't like the noise from the motor cooling fan(me either). I switched to a very silent T4.

My sump will be directly under the tank. Give a few feet for plumbing, I should be looking at 8 feet for head...Noise is huge, being that this tank will be in my living room. Tweetyfish, are you refering to the Velocity T4?

Tweety- What was the heat transfer while using the T4? I have read that they have raised tank temp anywhere from 1-5 degrees.

In theory with that pump you will have 600gph or so. Minimal heat transfer and low noise all with the pan world pump. Besides it is one of the cheaper pumps and has Iwaki design behind it. It would be a great choice.

That is the same exact pump I was going to use on my 180 with a 240 sump and 135 Fuge.
:eek2:

I run 3 Pan World 150-PS running under my stand and you can't hear them at all. You hear the water trickling quietly into the overflow over the pumps.

I also have not noticed any heat transfer at all, my water stays a balmy 78-80 degrees year round - no chiller either.

I have a 180 and I just installed a pan world 250PS and it runs quiet but it's inclosed under my tank stand. I used a larger pump so I can tee off the discharge to my ca reactor and chiller (when I buy one). I put a ball valve on the discharge side to adjust flow to the tank. After the installation I found my temp raised at least 5 degrees. I'll need to buy the chiller for sure now. Any ideas on chillers? I was looking at the aqua medic. It's on sale now for about 550.00.

Thats quite a jump on the temperature. I cannot afford that much heat, and also buy a chiller along with all of the costs of starting up my new 180. Pan world was going to be my choice, but maybe I'll reconsider due to heat transfer concerns. What about the Velocity T4? Any known problems with it raising the tank temp?

I use that pump on my 180. It gives about 600 GPH and it is quiet, I am happy with it.

I have a 180 also. Do you have a chiller installed on your system? I really like this pump but have a slight heat increase with it. I need a chiller and was thinking about the JBJ. What does anyone think?
