panther grouper in reef

I know these guys are not reef safe. Although my question is are they not reef safe because they eat fish?? Like would these guys even bother with corals?

I was told they are actually not aggressive at all and won't bother anything unless it fits in its mouth. If small enough then its as good as dead. is this correct

probably wouldnt bother corals, but it would absolutely devour anything it could. and you'd be surprised what can fit in their mouths. not sure about snails and hermit crabs, but shrimp would be a risk as well.

I think the reason they say these guys are not reef safe is because you can kiss you clean up crew good buy and they are clunky swimmers and might (prally will) knock over frags etc as they swim around. But i dont think they will intentionally harm corals.

Adult size 1 foot 8 inches.
There is one danger besides the obvious, that that large a meateater in the tank will have to be the only fish, and that his high-protein-based fish poo as he approaches adult will ultimately require an extraordinarily potent and expensive skimmer. At that point he may be eating a pound of shrimp a day.

yeah small panther groupers are adorable but grow very quick and eat alot, ALOT.
