Par 38 LED question

are these lights over kill for a refugium light ?? I'm look to make most macro's happy..

I think so. I've got a 29G that is 2/3 refugium and 1/3 frag tank. The frag tank has a PAR38 and the fuge has a fluorescent flood. My macro is doing great under the fluorescent and I don't notice any difference in growth toward the side with the PAR38.

A little overkill but they do work great. 60 or 80 optics will give you some good spread. 40 is a spotlight.

Yeah, I am thinking that even a good spiral PC (5000K) in a good conical reflector would work well - gotta love Home Depot! However, BoostLED does carry a PAR38 in 5000K with 90 degree optics for refugiums...
