Hey all. I am looking into buying one of these for the club. The Chattanooga club has one and has had success with it. I think it would be a good thing for the club to share. I'm sure there will be a learning curve with it, but I think it could help us understand things better without as much conjecture. Before going forward with the purchase, I wanted to see what eveyone thinks.

It is the QMSS-SUN or QMSS ELEC. We'd have to get a calibration solution (most liklely the electric flourescent calbration solution), but it comes with a 6 foot waterproof cable so you can measure different spots in the tank to better fit corals to an area.

Looks great to me! It doesn't require a calibration solution -- the electric vs sunlight are the light sources used for calibration. I'm thinking the flourescent calibration would be better as well.

I'm an idiot... Not sure why I put calibration solution. Makes sense, huh. Calibrate a light measuring device with an aqueous solution. The gears are slipping lately...

Who else likes the idea? I remember quite a few people who seemed interested from the initial thread.

From the other thread, RCMike and DMBillies were also interested. Are you guys still interested? Are others interested in this as a club resource?

Yep... definitely think it could be useful for placing corals. It would also let me see how my halides compare to my T5/VHO combo for future reference. So, put me in line.

I don't know anything about the particular equipment (brands, types, etc.) so I don't have any input there, but I trust that some homework has been done on getting a decent one at a decent price.
