Paralyzed Wrasse?

Huhhhhh

New member
Anyone ever experience a leopard wrasse in a paralyzed state during and after acclimation?

I got a Leopard wrasse yesterday and it seemed to be working his gills extra fast while laying on his side in the bag. I slow dripped him for over an hour and all my water parameters are fine. This hasn't stopped for going on 30 hours now. If I disturb him he gets startled and swims away real quick only to roll over on his side again as if he can't stay upright.

Any clues to what may be going on?

Is he a goner?

Well he's done. Didn't make it through the second night. I"ll call Live Aquaria and get a refund today. At least they are good about that.

Sounds like he had an internal injury, maybe swim bladder damage.

Could that have been done by the FedEx guy dropkicking the box or something?

I've had this happen to 2 wrasses. One was a leopard. It's like they stress so much they have a stroke or something. I have had zero luck bringing them back.

Sorry for your loss

More likely that it happened during collection.

I have heard that LWs are bad shippers to begin with. They are awsome fish, sorry for the loss, Tim.

he other wrasse I had it happen to was in my established 40G reef for over 1 year. I was taking this tank down and adding him to the 370G tang. As I chased him with the net and caught him is when it occurred

Jeezo Tim you should have bought the Leopard Wrasse from Eric when we were over there.
BTW the one I got from Scott a week ago is doing great, I'd tell him to keep ordering them and when you see one that comes in good snag it! Both of mine eat arcti pods and PE Mysis daily.

I was going to but you've mastered the micronanosecondgrabbeatmetothepunch move before me.

Yeah I think scott may be the way to go. Make sure he's a good eater first and in good health.

Long line at Scotts for the Leopards, seems they are hit and miss Lucky Dog Chris got the grab again. Tim Yeah I thought of doing the Live Aquaria Order because the refund policy. I still may try it, did you overnight or next day? Does Eric have one for sale?

Next day was good enough.

Ahhh, fish whore, so simple but elusive to me.

i also have had bad luck with these wrasses 5 of them and I'm done. I have been told that the alltitude could play a factor inthere demise. Seems there are more miss's than hits with his animal.

The fish suffered from a build up of lactic acid in its muscles...typical for this fish as they stress easily from shipment.
