ParanoidObseshn's new 20L AIO

This new build is to replace my other tanks. I currently have 2 tanks running, My 5.5g and a shallow 23g.

I was tired of the 5.5 being finicky and wanted to upgrade and at the same time I wanted to take down the 23g.

I also wanted something easy incase I end up moving in the next few months or something.

So I decided to make a 20L AIO and put all the corals from the 5.5g and the better ones from the 23g into this.

I made an internal overflow compartment that is 7 1/2 x 4 x 11 5/8 roughly. There are 2 compartments just like my 5.5 but bigger. The main area that takes up 5 inches of the width is the fuge compartment, and the other side houses the pump and heater.

In the last week I built the stand for it and built the overflow compartment. In the past few days I added sand, water, and some rock from the other tank.

Here are some pictures of what it currently looks like.

Have a 200gph pump in the overflow and will have a 250gph powerhead in the display. Currently running 2 x 39W T5's.

I really like the minimalist rock work, looks good! Without a sump with additional LR, you may be low on biological filtration so just keep an eye on that when you start to stock the tank.

Thanks guys.

ange062- thats only a little bit of rock thats going into this tank. I still have more to move over from the other tank buy just didnt get around to clearing out the other tank yet.

Looks like a good start! I just purchased a 20L (petco's famous $1 a gallon sale). In my 20 high, I had made an overflow compartment with a rubber-maid mailbox. I'm just wondering how you made yours? It looks nice, and I would be interested in doing a similar setup on my new 20L.

Thanks!

Wondering where you got the acrylic? Home depot? Lowes? Also, did you buy it black, or paint it after the fact?

Thanks!

Got things moved over. But have a lot of placing and glueing left to do. As well as looking into another light fixture.

I tried to create a whole bunch of passages on the left side of the tank for the fish. The right side of the tank was a little harder. There is a large rock on the bottom that would only work there. But the fish can swim underneath it as there are a lot of nooks, crannies, and whatnot on the underside of the rock. Probably going to mount a lot of zoas to it as the rock is fairly smooth and a good surface for that.

RY- I had the stuff for a couple years, got it from the parents work. It was white and I painted it black.

I glued the 2 candy canes to the rock work on the left side, and glued a multicolor tip frogspawn to a rock on the right side. I will be rearranging things as the week goes on. I will probably add some neon green frogspawn to the overflow or the rockwork, and probably rearrange the zoanthids some more.

Spent some time today fishing my 6line out of the overflow compartment and I put a cover overtop to keep him from jumping in.

Also should be getting my new bulbs in today. ATI Blue plus, ATI Aquablue special.

Bought some corals online last night for the tank. Will get pictures whenever I get them.

I just got in my coral shipment I bought online the other day. I am currently acclimating them. I bought 3 items, got all blastomussa's, one was a red colony, a unique color combo colony, and a teal/black wellsi with green and purple merlettis attached.

Here are pictures of 2 of the ones I bought, didnt get pictures of the others.

Well its tricky to get good pictures under the new bulbs. Have to work with the camera a little bit, or get a better one lol.

Here are the stock pictures from the website I bought them from. These pictures are spot on to what they look like in my tank.

Here are some new updated FTS and Side Shot.

Since my last post I bought a couple more blastos and rearranged some things. Also got a mangrove for the AIO compartment. Seems to be doing good so far.

Thanks!

I have been trying to get mostly blastos from now on. Have 21 different color morphs between wellsi and merletti, and hopefully will be getting more.

Your tank is beautiful! Its amazing how much your crammed into that little 5.5g before moving it all into your 20.

Great work!

Oh, and where did you order those corals from a few posts back? Gorgeous! :)
