ParanoidObseshun's 27g Cube

Soon I am going to be moving so I decided to build a new tank instead of tanking along my current 20L. Wanted something with just a cleaner look. I first thought about getting a Nano or Bio Cube tank, but after looking around I finally settled on a 27g Cube. I am going with another AIO idea since I dont want to drill the tank and have a sump and all that. Dont think the girlfriend would appreciate the extra space, noise, etc etc..

Tank is setup in the apartment just need to hook up the return pump, which will be connected to a hydor flo in the left back corner, and then there will be a 300gph powerhead in the right back corner hooked up to another hydor flo. I might be putting a koralia nano underneath the overflow and have it aimed at the front, but that also depends on what the rockwork looks like.

Everything from the 20L will be getting transferred over to this tank. Maybe some time next week.

Here is the tank as it sits now.

I like the light, just have to wait and see how it does when I have the tank up and running.

I found the fixture when I was searching on ebay.

Contents of the 20L were transferred 60 miles to the new cube setup. Everything was done 2+ weeks ago, and everything seems to be fine. I lost a coral that was encrusted onto one of the rocks, probably died because I had the rock out of the water for too long trying to break it into smaller pieces.

Here are some current pictures of the tank and the corals inside. I still need to secure corals to the rocks in their permanent positions. If I can figure out what should go where.

Currently there are 3 fish in the tank.

Bicolor Blenny
1 Pair of SA Mocha Ocellaris Clowns

Tank is mostly LPS with a few zoas/palys mixed in. I hope to soon add some sps to the rock coming out of the top center, and maybe get some clear acrylic rod and connect some to the overflow sticking out into the tank area.

Thanks guys. The LED has 2 Dimmers. 1 dimmer is just all blues while the 2nd dimmer controls the whites, red, greens, uv, purple, and some blues.

Yes that is the fixture I bought. I paid the price that is listed for it, just had to pay extra to get the combination of 60/90 degree optics on it. So far I really like the light fixture and my corals seem to as well. Now I can finally figure out where I am going to place all the corals so the tank can finally look put together.

I am going to be getting some sps soon to see how they do under this light.

That really is a great light for the price. if the photos show real life colors, the way you have the dimmers balanced gives just enough pop while still looking somewhat "natural". Which colors have 60 and which have 90?

I am not sure which colors have which optics. When I bought the fixture I told the seller to do it whatever way he thought would be best since he has done it in the past.

The cube is doing good so far. I still have yet to secure any of the corals down or find permanent spots for most of them. All of the corals seem to be acclimating nicely to the new light fixture though. Both of my war corals have developed deeper coloring and the blues in them are really starting to pop.

There was a hitchhiker Montipora on a blasto colony I received in the past. In my old tank the coral turned brown and didnt really polyp out, but since being under the new lights both the base and the polyps are starting to get their color back.

I went out and picked up some sps frags the other day as I want to start adding some to the tank. Ended up getting 4 sps and a cyphastrea.

Everything seems to be going well in the cube. Sps frags are keeping their colors and have good polyp extension. I recently bought a powersweep and put it in the tank the other day. I havent turned it on yet. I need to get it set in the right spot and adjust the flow as needed. I thought that would be good to get random flow over where the sps is going to be.

Also for the first time since I bought them I finally see some babies popping out on the duncans.

Probably going to end up doing some work on the tank tomorrow.
