parasites

i have recently lost a couple fish, they seem to come to me very healthy, eat well. i am feeding mysis, emerald entree and nori
then the fish after 2-3 months start to get skinny, eventualy stop eating and die...

i admit i do not QT, but my paramaters have been very stable since i added the aqua controller

doing some research i am wondering if its worms or some sort of parasite.

i would appreciate any and all feed back on what to do, i have decided not to purchase any more fish till i have solution like a medication i can add to the food, my fiance is a vet tech so i can get access to meds i have heard about in other forums

I sure hate to hear that, but I can offer no advice, so I'll follow along with this thread and hopefully pick up some more useful information.

i have done some reading about prazi pro, active ingredient is doncit, a dog dewormer, i can get one pill of this and its seems that one 22.7 mg pill treats 420 lbs of fish, i think it should last a while

and reading some of the post they say that it could be up to 70% of fish come with some sort of parasite, i am not sure about this

my ideal goal is to have a way i can soak the food in the meds and fed it to all fish in the tank, it appears to be a reef safe medication. this would make sure all fish stay healthy and i am sure it can spread as i have seen fish eat each other poop

Be very careful and do all the possible research you can on using any non-aquatic medicines in your tank BEFORE you dose for anything. There are a lot of four legged friend medicines out there that can be of great use to the reef tank, but make sure you're covering your butt before you drop them in the tank. For example, the flea and tick medicine, Interceptor, is great for killing an infestation of SPS eating red bugs. However, it will also wipe out an entire population of hermits, shrimp, pods, etc. during the same dosing. Just make sure you do the math on the correct dosing, the number of treatments, the cost of what you may kill in the tank that you weren't hoping to, etc. before you start a treatment. When we did the Interceptor dose, I sat down with our vet (who gave us the meds) and had her go over the math with me to make sure we weren't gong to OD the tank with the treatment...
