Pardon me for putting this posting over here .....but it's related to SPS

Well , DI cartridge been set up , added to existing RO and running. I believe it will take quite a while for those old water be totally replaced . Hopefully , new improvement will be observed .

Thanks for all the valued advise and comments , shall report back so that this will have a conclusive topic.

I will still looking at other possible factors . Hopefully , in my case the water TDS of 6 ppm is the only reason why my Acros go browning and won't survive.

Cheers,

One way to determine contaminants in your tank is by running a Polyfilter. It will change color depending on what contaminants it's absorbing.

All I can translate is it indicate about super pure water and not advisable for human drinking.

My wife was able to translate a little more for you. Apparently it's a low budget translation from English into Chinese.

"It is the filter for R/O system. The product is a electrical grade mixed resin used in super pure mixed bed water system to produce high purity water. It has good exchange ability and high exchange volume ability and great physical, chemical and heat stability."

Thanks for the advise , may I know what kind of this poly filter is? Any photos or commercial brand for me to search ?

Thanks again for the translations, and say thanks to your wife! She translate it very perfectly , shame on me :)

By the way, I think this DI chamber is the same as you guys been using out there ? Why my dealers keep remind me it is not suitable for human consumption ? May be as the explained by other here earlier ?

Here's what it is:

http://poly-bio-marine.com/products.htm

It's basically a foam pad filter designed to absorb chemicals from your water. You run it passively in your filtration system such as overflow or baffles. Here's some details on what it will remove:

"Poly-Filter turns color when removing medications. Aqua to Dark Blue: Copper or Copper salts. Orange: Iron. Bright Red: Aluminum. Bright Yellow: Ammonia, Amines or Solvents. Dyes: Color of the solution when added i.e. Methylene Blue: Pale Blue. Malachite Green: Light Green, Tannins/Humic acid: Dark Brown, Organic Wastes: Light Tan progressing to Dark Brown. Poly-Filter extends time between water changes. Add de-chlorinated water to make up for evaporation loss. If pH shifts below acceptable level change water and add a new Poly-Filter. Heavy slime producing water conditioners can surface coat Poly-Filter and interfere with absorption performance. In marine water, soak in 3% hydrogen peroxide then rinse (in freshwater) well. In freshwater soak in 10% marine salt water solution then rinse (in freshwater) well."

You bet, she's from Taiwan and graduated from NTU. We travel to Taipei every other year. And we are both in complete agreement with your signature.

Your DI chamber looks quite different than the ones we use. It doesn't appear serviceable. Ours are clear so you can see it change color which indicates the resin needs to be changed. The TDS Meter helps as well so you know if you go beyond 0 TDS. I use the combination of both to determine when to change, and when I do, I change all filters but the R/O Membrane. Here's the one I use, although there are definitely higher end ones which further clean the water and/or produce faster with less waste:

Thanks for the valued info.

Oh ! Your wife is from Taiwan and a graduate of NTU, no wonder she did a very good translation .

Thanks for your complete agreement of my signature here, and of coarse my Avatar, as well, I hope there's some high profile personnel say Congressman, senators or perhaps President or other world leaders that also RC member too ? so that they will also see my small statement in my signature too like you do.

You been traveling to Taiwan and I believed you fully understand what I feel and how beautiful this country is . People are peace loving and fully democratic mentality . We are living very freely here , we speaks out what is right or wrong . We only need international community support and recognition , I understand our opposition is a giant and everyone does not want to get offended with but does you people knows you are merely sacrificing such a nice democratic because of your own interest ?

No politic issues nor any debate as I also have a lot of good friends too coming from the other side of the Taiwan straight and sorry for taking this up here. Anyway thanks you so much !

Yeah, it's a tough situation. I really never knew much about Taiwan until I met my wife. I think most Americans are similar and just assume that Taiwan is either part of China or should be.

Since I met my wife I've done a lot of reading about Taiwan's history. My wife's family are pre Chiang Kai Shek Taiwanese, so firmly independent. They lived under Japanese rule and have no interest in living under Communist rule. It seems that the younger generations in Taiwan are also pro independence so the politics seem to be moving in that direction over there which I think is a good thing. I'm a red blooded American so I believe in Freedom and Independence and I wish the same for Taiwan, or any country for that matter.

Fly your free and independent flag proudly and know at least a few Americans over here is behind you!

Thanks for a very supportive words , I hope more and more Americans and other nationalities will understand and support this very nice democratic country , Taiwan .

Today , we celebrate our Independence Day , in fact Taiwan is an independent country under the Name : Republic of China. We are indeed the Authentic Gov't of China and also the original founder and the holding the original seat of one of the 5 permanent United Nation Security council.

Never the present today "so called" Gov't of Mainland communist China ever sign in any Original United Nation docs, our Flag was the China flag when UN was founded.

We have our own Arm Force , Air Force and Navy. Thanks to US for continue selling us Military Hardware.

The Taiwan Straight vast body of water and the air space is very important strategic waters and air space for International community specially Japan and US national security interest , if we will be taking over by Mainland China then this part shall become China internal water which is a big treat to Japan, U.S. and the rest of Asia neighbors .

The sad thing is that we have been the bargaining chips between the U.S. And China discussion and we , citizen of this lovely nation , Taiwan want to be formally recognize by the international community , as we are an independent country since the very beginning .

Sorry again, for saying so much non related to SPS stuff here and thanks for your kind reading and please keep supporting us.

This is our double ten independent day symbols.

For your understanding we said Double ten which means our independent day falls on October Tenth like yours in 4th of July, so in Mandarin writing ten (written like a cross) so you can see two crosses as the picture above.

Happy to be a Taiwanese !

Nothing to do with your SPS question, but I noticed your TLF 150 reactor. I would suggest you not put that downward pressure on the slip-on L fitting. Over time that could in invite a small leak.

Best wishes on your Independence Day. Taiwan has come a long way and is an inspiring story of how democracy and national success can emerge from the darkness thanks to the hard work of a determined people. I hope your people do whatever it takes to remain a free society.

Thanks RF for the reminding about the down pressure of my 150 TLF, I have place a suction cup to hold the hose ,hope it will stay in tact:

Thanks as well for your very supportive words , only people that love and understand the good side of democracy will understand us. Hope we finally will be fully represented in the United Nation.

God Bless you all and God bless Taiwan!

MD, I think what Reef Frog is referring to is the black elbow plumbing that comes with the tlf reactors.. I find that they will lose their elasticity over time and can pop off or just begin to leak a bit... You might want to put tie wraps on them to keep them secure..

It is Thanksgiving on Monday, in Canada and besides being grateful for my health and my family, I am also very thankful to live in a free and democratic country.. I can only wish he same for you!

Thanks for your reminders , oh I got what you mean, do you think aside from using tie wrap, can I also add the tape we use for plumbing that we usually encircled it around the water tubing threaded end?

Thanks and so happy to see you guys living in the same democratic country like me.

I hope that Taiwan will finally be recognize and re - admit as the United Nation member country .

We live on the same planet earth and there are 23 million people here who live in a very democratic environment but not part of the world body.

No other country that never rule us and should not force themselves to represent us in any world organization only us , 23 million people that can choose our own destiny.

Cheers,

MD
