paring my clown

i have a false perc clown, i dont know how old he is, i got him from a friends take that he tore down. hes only about 3 inch long, prolly a lil smaller. i would really like to pare my clown with a mate, should i get another young clown from my lfs? or what?

Chances are that you have a female right now if she was the only clown in that tank for sometime. You'd want to go out and get a clown that was smaller to give them a better chance to pair up.

I'd find a smaller one definitely, preferably one from the LFS out of a tank of many juveniles (not the biggest one in there, either.)

I don't know what your practices are, but I generally suggest quarantining all new tank additions, especially from the LFS. I don't know how long it takes for a clown to go female, but I would think it would be fine through the QT period.

yeah it was the only clown in that tank he had and it was in his tank for several months, its only benn in mine for less then a month. thanx for the advice.
