Part 2--will it fit in my tank?

Hi everyone!

Got the second part yesterday and finally got home to put it in the tank--it only took me 530 miles, an overnight stay and two snowstorms over vail pass to get it here!

After opening the two boxes all I can say is WOWOW! I took myself, my brother, and my girlfriend to figure out how to get all the rock into the tank, and I have a whole other box of critters! I'm acclimating them right now but the tank is now stuffed!

Pictures will be posted tomorrow but my first question to everyone is did anyone attach the ball and fan sponges directly to the rock? How?

Finally I cannot say enough about Richard and TBS. The best way to get it here was 530 miles roundtrip and required an overnight stay to ick it up. On both Richard was amazingly flexible on shipping times and has answered all my questions when needed. EXTREMLY PROFESSIONAL BUT ALSO VERY DOWN TO EARTH! Even the cargo attendant at DIA was impressed and proud that I went with TBS, (bill at southwest cargo has some great stories about Richard!).

Thank You Richard and will keep everyone posted

Super glue gel seems to work well. Best results seem to be: Clear a small patch of rock w/ a toothbrush or similar item (free of harful residue of course).

Tip the base up near the surface of the water.

Apply a thick layer of SG gel underwater to the base.

Stick the object to the rock while twisting a bit to break the gel film then hold for a minute since SG gel cures a bit slower.

For a more rigid and stronger bond on larger items like gorgs etc, very good sucess has been had with a glob of underwater epoxy and superglue gel combo. Mix up a glob of epoxy. Apply a wad of gel to the top and jam the frag into it. Apply another smear of gel to the bottom of the epoxy wad and stick it to the rock in the same manner as before. The superglue gel seems to adhere better to the surfaces while the epoxy hardens to a very stong bond.

cant wait to see pics. You are making me want to un-delay my part 2 and go for it through our snow, but next week is supposed to be a lot nicer over here, and another week is not going to hurt anything.

Man, I am so ready for my tank to cycle so I can get my part two. Still waiting for that ammonia to crash! Enjoy it, and post so pics when you get a chance!

Great story, Wolfie! We're all anxious to see pics of your setup. Like ShadowBear, you'll probably outgrow your 'pod quickly and want a bigger tank ;)

Hey all,

Here's the picts of the tank finally. I've rearranged things a bit since these, (and had a cold that wiped me out for two days), but here's the day after the big night.

The ammonia has only risen to .5 and I've fished out a few dead crabs so far (including the decorator and filter crab :( ) I also bumped up the flow with a flomax 1200 as the main and a nano korilia on the side. Everything seems happy including the anenomes hanging upside down! More picts soon with the korgys open.

You guys and your nanos!

You guys and your nanos!

OK.....

what a nice job aquascaping...I am jealous........after seeing all the nanos this year....I am almost to the point of having a tank in my house again!

The last one I had was a 220 gallon...split the seam when I was in the Keys one week and the other half said "NO MORE".

Think I could get away with a little ...say 24 gallon one in the living room?

Yall have any ideas on a good one?

sea ya

Thanks Richard!

I myself am very happy with the Aquapod 24--very quiet and fits in well in the livingroom. You wouldn't have any problem stocking it :)

If I were Richard, I'd get a wall-size tank and fill it with everything!

Love the tank-looks great, grats!

Been there done that ..I had one of the first plywood/glass tanks ever built by a newbie....back in 1973....was in the wall in my living room...started leaking about 1985....was a good try!

Where did you get it?

I got my LFS to beat Foster and Smith's sale price. It came down to free shipping or a bunch of useful freebies--so I went with the local guy and built my own stand and saved around $145.
