Part One Arrived

Well at long last, Part One is in the tank. There was a nit of a communication foul-up and the shipment was in transit for 60 hours. Nonetheless, the rock arrived in great shape due to Richard's superior packaging. Only had two rocks that smelled and was able to quickly eliminate the offending sponges.

Here are some shots of how it looks in the tank.

I put a few of the smaller pieces in my sump for now.

I got some hitchhikers too!

This guy was pretty and very fast:

The gorilla crabs and the mantis are now residing at the neighborhood LFS.

This guy made it into the tank, but I have not seen him since:

And here are my first two saltwater fish:

I think they are Ophioblennius atlanticus or Redlipped Blennies, but this is my first try at fish identification. Let me know what you think.

After having the sand and rocks in the tank for 36 hours, here are my current water parameters:

SG = 1.026
pH = 8.08
NH4 < 0.25
NO2 = 0.05
NO3 = 5
PO4 = 0.05 (was 0 before adding part one)
CA = 410
KH = 120 mg/L

I think I need to get the pH and the KH up a bit. What do you think?

That pH is fine as long as you don't drop below about 7.8 or so at night. I would shoot for an alkalinity between 8-11dKH after the tank cycles and the water params become more stable.

Nice job on getting those crabs and mantis out.

Nice just throw your bad crabs into your sump and your mantis and they should be fine then

I just got my part one today...

Not so lucky with the hitch hickers.

I do have some worms though... maybe I will find more hickers.

I have to try and ID the worms.
