Partial Deep Sand Bed

Considering setting up a tank that has a retaining wall that would create a DSB in 25-30% of the tank -- 5-6". The remaining tank would be 1" or less of a courser substrate and LR. Would plant DSB with turtle grass and include a variety of detrivore sand critters.

Thoughts?

I did this in my last tank. It's a great way to get a DSB to support seagrass, without the ant farm look. It's got to look natural-not man made or it will be ugly. Five to six inches may be enough for turtle grass. I like seven.

Obviously, I think its a great idea. Good luck!
