Patent for a Height Adjustable Durso??

Yes, that is AGA's patent for their "overflow kit", the standpipe portion of which they yoinked from Richard Durso (who invented it and released free DIY instructions) so they could sell it for an additional $50 with their reef-ready tanks.

That's funny because when I was first building my tank I looked at a Durso standpipe and from that I went to Lowes and bought all the piping. Mine is adjustable also with a simple slip pipe from Lowes for repair of sprinkler piping. I find it amusing how this person took a simple concept and just installed a slip joint coupler on and then gets a patent for something any average Joe can assemble for under $10. Good luck on that one.

The standpipe on my skimmer has the same slip joint pipe which makes the skimmer water height adjustable too. It works better than a gate valve in my opinion. Maybe I should run down and spend $$$$ on a patent for something that's not enforceable nor worth the time or effort.
