Neither one of us have a PhD. We have our DVM which took 4 years. I may be going for my PhD and it will take 5 years.

And either or both of these is after 4 years of undergraduate work in college, in other words getting a bachelors degree.....so I've been in college 8 years and Paul will be in for at least 13

Maybe 11, but most likely 13. A Masters is 2 years less, and that is my other option vs the PhD. And I will be board certified in at least 4 years, maybe 6. You have to wait a year to take specialty boards .
