i have a sps system 3'2'2 cube starting to get fish in the tank almost been up for about 8 months thinking of powder blue or a powder brown ,,which one do you guys think ? it will be the main fish in the tank there will only be about 3 or 4 more smaller fish in wiht it ,,want a light fish load ,,,,thanks

forgot to add that i have had bothe these 2 fish in the past pblue being the healthiest if tyou can believe that

I love PBT. Think they are just about my favorite fish, Even though i have never owned one.

I have been Torn wheather to get one because i hear they are weak!

not week just need good water chem and fed a good healthy diet and i think the most important thing keeping the water temp at the same piont as much as posibble

There's another option here: A. nigricans, eg. Gold Rim Tang. Very similar to the Powder brown, but sharper contrasts in coloring.

I've kept them all on many occasions; they're all pretty similar IMO, just a matter of taste.

I honestly think the hardiness thing is a myth. I have three A. nigricans and two A. japonicus right now and they're pretty much identical in all aspects aside from color. I suspect it has more to do with collection practices than the actual vigor of the animal.

all tangs mentioned do like lots of swimming room, so in a 3X2X2 tank, make sure its not overloaded with rock. once these fish get stressed (by things like light flow and cramped quarters), they'll get sick.
BTW, awesome dimensions- cube tanks (or close enough) are cool.

If you can't decide between the powder blue or goldrim, you could go with a hybrid between the two species... this is my A. nigricans/leucosternon hybrid pictured in the center of the photo (I'm away on vacation and snagged this photo from another thread as I don't have my laptop). It is more of a steely blue, showing traits of both species... FYI, in a system of that size I would stay away from any Acanthurus genus tang, and limit my selection to the Zebrasoma and Ctenochaetus genera... sweet dimensions though on that system...
