PBT with ick

Well my powder blue tang was doing awesome until i had to move some rocks around, and within the past 4-5 days it has gotten ick, its not super bad but still its ick. i can't move it out of my DT so i've been feeding garlic soaked food, putting extra vitamins and doing large doses of marine max. i added a cleaner shrimp today, which was eaten by my flame hawk in seconds(it never touched my peppermints though?). and then i added another a few hours later after removing the hawk and putting it in my sump. i still have 2 GSPs in there that may turn it into a snack. i have a neon goby coming next friday but was hoping to get one from someone before that.

does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what to do? i can't remove any fish from my DT because i don't have a QT anymore(broke last week :(..)

Just keep feeding a proper diet and it should be fine. Tangs are very tough fish and can really take a lot in established tanks. Also keep up with wc's and bump the temp of the water up a bit. Best of luck!

If you wont qt&treat your fish you will always have ich in your dt. I know its a pain in the butt to breakdown and catch your fish but its your best option. You a can use a garbage can as a qt/ht. If you choose just to manage your problem with garlic/vitamins you will always have the risk of it flaring up again. There are so many ways you could introduce ich into your dt, it drives me crazy too.

well im upgrading in jan/feb so i will transfer the rock over to the new tank. and have all the fish in the current tank under hypo for 8 weeks then add them to the new tank.

does this sound like a good plan?

Yes that will work but I would rather see you use Cupramine instead of Hypo. Maintaining water quality in Hypo is a PITA.....You also have to keep your salinity in the 1.008-1.009 range for the treatment to be effective.

Just to be safe I would also leave your main tank fallow for 12 weeks.
