pc lighting and clams

just to make a check in on the thread, its been a bit over a month since i last posted the clams are doing great so are the 3 acros i have added to my tank since then, my anly problem seem to be keeping the CA levels up with the high uptake rate im experiencing.

peabody, you are using a calcium reactor right? what kind of drip rate and bubble count? also do you use a pH controller? and if so do you plug in the dosing pump or the solenoid valve on the regulator?

I use a PH monitor. Honestly I can't remember what effluent rate I'm running, but the BPM is about 60 and the PH is 6.8 ou tof the 2nd chamber. Start way under and work your way up....different systems have different loads. I have a derasa clam which is laying down shell at 1/3rd inch a month, 2 maximas and a dozen or 2 frags all growing well, so I have a VERY high demand! Yes, I do use the solenoid that came with my regulator, but don't use a dosing pump to feed...just a maxijet pump.

so you dont use a ph controller? Im asking because i have a k2r CA reactor and a ph controller and was wondering if it is better to use the controller to shut off the co2 or the drip?

Oh....the controller should control the CO2. It's kind or self defeting to have it cut off the water supply if the PH is too low....the PH would just get even lower :)
