When we first put 1 in my sons tank it hid for first few days and was very skittish when it did come out. It actually jumped into the overflow 2 times when he was feeding the tank.
Now he comes right out of his den when he see a person come near and comes right out into the open. You can see him swimming around his den area also when things are not moving quick around the tank(people, dogs etc). I say just give him awhile to get situated with his new surroundings and get comfortable in the tank. Hopefully he will come around like my sons......just hope he doesnt dig tunnels like his. For a smaller size fish he sure can redecorate the tank with the substrate :)

When I started my tank, I added a pair of pearlies as the first fish in the tank. They hid off and on for a few weeks until they settled into their burrows. I didn't add any other fish for a month. 2 years later, I attempted to move the male into another established/stocked reef I had, he jumped the first night. :( The tank was covered with eggcrate, but he found a gap somewhere.
