pendant lighting?

Does the lighting you hang above your tank leach light all throughout the room. Is there a glare? or is it confined straight down to the tank? I have a corner tank that is odd shaped and dont know if I can get lighting for a canapy. I would have to have the canapy made special to fit also. So I was thinking about the pendants. i love my aquamedic ocean light it came with sheilds to keep light froom leeching out you can sit and watch the tank and even thought they are 12 offf the tank there i verry little leeche light
