i have a bunch of aptasia starting in my tank wondering how good they are in eating them. i heard you should by in pairs.

Have you tried Kalk paste? I think the peppermints are hit and miss but for as cheap as they are its definately worth a try. Ive had a single peppermint shrimp for over a year but only see it at night.

its luck of the draw with peppermint. Some won't touch the stuff. I think there are a few variety of peppermint out there, that is why the luck of the draw. I think AT has peppermint that they train to eat aptasia, at least that was what I saw the last time I was there. Keep in mind though the peppermint won't touch the larger size ones, they will only eat the babies.

I've had good luck with them. However, I think they do better in a confined area. In a display with more choices of food available, they may not be as efficient.

MINE ELIMINATED MY APTASIA I ADDED 8 IN MY 120. i KNOW WHERE 2 LIVE AND I SEE THEM THE OTHER 6 I COULDN'T TELL YOU IF THERE DEAD OR ALIVE, THERE NOTORIOUSLY GOOD HIDERS. bUT I DID KALK THE LARGER APTASIA AT FIRST BUT SINCE THEN I HAVENT HAD ANY AT ALL. I TRIED TO CONTROL IT WITH KALK PASTE AT FIRST BUT JUST COULDNT KEEP UP WITH THE APTASIA.

I had some aptasia in my tank (I believe they hitched in on some frags). Quickly spread to the one side of my tank. Some were small and a couple were big. I went to AT and talked with Greg. Ended up buying a couple of their peppermints (3 of them). As someone mentioned above, they only feed aptasia to their peps. Took about 2-3 weeks, but my tank is now aptasia free!!
