peppermint shrimp eating coral polyps?

I got two peppermints to try and take care of my apitasia problem in my 14 gallon biocube. It has worked amazingly well over 3 weeks with almost no more apitasia seen, however I did notice today one of my smaller frags of acropora appears to have lost multiple polyps around its base after thriving for 3 months-the only difference in the tank are the shrimp- im pretty sure they are not camelbacks and am now debating on trying to remove them since my apitasia problem seems under control. Any thoughts?

Are you feeding the tank?

Personally, I'd keep them in the tank. You never know when aiptasia might try to pop up again, or hitchhike in on a frag.

I had one that would eat my Zoas and Yellow Polyps, so I doesn't surprise me. It took me 3 nights with a flash light to get the little bugger out, without tearing the tank apart. Days after removing it, the Zoas and Yellow Polyps all were opening full. Everything have recovered fully now. I won't add or recommend to anybody, but plenty of people love them. If you think it's eatting the polyps, remove it. If you have an apitasia problem again, maybe add another at that time. I imagine it would be easier to catch it in your 14 gallon then my 90 gallon. HTH
