Peppermint Shrimp Good or Bad ???

Hey guys just wondering if these guys are good for a reef tank or not I have tried to do some research and I can't seem to find a definitive yes or no. So hopefully some of you have some actual experience with them that you would like to share.

I think they are great! They are awesome scavengers and will also eat aiptasia anemones!

I wanted one, but its a hit or miss for aiptasia. The second problem is that walk all over your corals...

I got two and they clear out the aptasia in my tank. They disappeared after that ..

I seconds what Elite says. I got 2 and they wiped out the aptasia after 1 day. In 3-4 days I can't see them- not sure if they're dead, hiding or in hibernation.

I've had that experience as well. They'll eat all the aiptasia and then disappear. I don't know if they are still alive or not...

I kind of second what Elite says but mine disappeared before eating squat, as far as I could tell. Never saw them after I put then in the tank. I've tried twice now. Not had that problem with Cleaners so I don't think it's sloppy acclimatization.

I have 3 in my tank. They hide behide the rocks during the day, but if after the lights go out, then they come out to do their thing and run around the tank.

put one in the tank in the spring, promptly dissappeared, never to be seen again.

still fighting with aiptasia, so tried to put in three more over thanksgiving, within 4 days all the aiptasia was gone in my home tank. no problems with them bothering anything else, coral or otherwise since i've had them. all three of them are still around, they normally hid in the daytime and come out at night, though they do sometimes come out when i'm feeding (similar behavior to my blood shrimp).

good by me, but i've heard mixed reports (both that they didn't eat the aiptasia people were hoping they would and that they sometimes pick on corals).

I'm trying a new approach with my Peppermints- I feed them pieces of fish, shrimp or whatever when I also feed my brittle star. I want to make sure they're not starving and dying. So far they eat whatever I give them. I consider it 'payment' for ridding my tank of aptasia!

i have to defend my bubble tip when i feed it because the shrimp will come and pick at both the rbta and the food i give it.
