Peppermint shrimp killing coral?

Recently I've had quite a few of my sps coral go through RTN and die. I noticed at night that my peppermint shrimp pick at some of the LPS (never really seen them pick at the SPS), and then the last two days I've seen my cleaner shrimp dancing/picking through my plate coral. Can the peppermint shrimp cause RTN? and can either the cleaner shrimp or the peppermint shrimp kill/eat polyps on lps corals?

I have peppermints(Lysmata wurdemanni) that do a very good job on aiptaisia. I have always been wary about wether or not they would eat croal polyps too. Two nights ago I watched one consume several whole zoanthus polyps in rapid sucesion.

Just another reason I would never add peppermint shrimp to control a nuisance... you subtract one problem and add another. If you can catch the shrimp and take them back to the LFS or find somebody who wants them...

Good luck :D

Yes I would agree.. Try to catch it and take it back to your LFS. I had one and a Camel back shrimp when I fist started up my tank. I added yellow polyps a few months later and one night I watch them take turns eating them. Now before I add anything to my tank I read up about it.
