Peppermint shrimp or not?

I was wondering if these are from the family Lysmata and if they are good for aiptasia?

I think they are reported to eat aiptasia although I dont have any experience. Hopefully someone has a case for you.

I have heard they pick at corals. Anyone confirm? I see this everywhere when I search pepermint shrimp picking corals

i have 4 in my tank. they seem to do a good job at keeping the aptasia down. I have not noticed them picking at my corals.

the same? L. kuekenthali ? or you are talking about lysmata in general?

i do not think that is peppermint shrimp.. the ones i have always had has long strips from head to tail not across the body as far as i can remember..

I found out that it is not lysmata wundermanni, but it seems to be from the same family named lysmata kuekenthali and some say it eats aiptasia.

To be clear, Lysmata is a genus within the cleaner shrimp family. Edit: Hippolytidae

Not sure what species you have there.

Fair warning - I'm brand new to the hobby.

I just started a new tank recently and had some Aiptasia pop up. I bought 5 Peppermint shrimp 2 days ago (125g tank) and when I woke up in the morning, it was 100% gone! So, I had great luck!

You are thinking of the camel shrimp.

Yes I had 3 and they all decimated the aptasia. And they looked just like the one you have. But 2 of them picked at my birdsnest so I took them out and now I just have 1
