Peppermint Shrimp - Personality

I just added 6 peppermint shrimp to my 30 gallon Nano tank a few days ago. The shrimp have been hanging out mostly in the crevices/caves of the live rock.

Is there anything I can do to encourage them to walk around the tank, either on the sand or walk over the live rock?

I feel bad for the shrimp; they are curious little guys, but they seem afraid to explore the tank. Is this just their personality?

Thanks for any answers!

I have one only 1, his name is Peppermint Pat. When we first put him in he hid in a small hole eyes just peering out. After about 3 weeks he became "brave", now he cruises all over, but mostly hangs out upside down peeking out of the holes in rocks. He moves from cave to cave and gets really active at dinner time. Just be patient.

Peppermints are mostly nocturnal, its a food chain thing, and they are near the bottom. They are just programmed this way. If you get them used to a daytime feeding schedule they may be more apt to come out atleast at feeding time.

There is a book about peppermints which claims they can be trained, not sure what kinds of things they can be trained to do though. They'll probably never jump through flaming hoops.
