Peppermint shrimp time....

My tank has been up and running for nearly 3 weeks (its a 29 gal biocube w/approx 20lbs of LR)- cycled it with fully cured LR and "live" bagged aragonite sand. After about a week, I added my first fish (ocellaris clown) and 3 blue leg hermits. All are doing fine, water parameters stable (but I only have tests for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & ph - what other tests do I need? alkalinity?).

Anyway, now that my fish has been in there for nearly two weeks, do you think it would be safe to add a peppermint? Will I need to test for and/or dose with iodine or anything else ?

My LR has a handful of aiptasia that I'd like to nix, plus I'd like to add a little variety w/the shrimp.

Also, I know I'm in the invert section, but while I'm at it, do you think it would be okay to add a second ocellaris clown at the same time? (one smaller than my original to keep any potential disputes to a minimum)

Thanks!

you would be fine to add a second clown to the tank. just make sure it is a good bit smaller then the first one you got. it will have to be a juvenile in order to make sure it all will work out for you.

now for the shrimp part... i dont think your tank is ready. but if you want to try too add a peppermint or 2 too your tank and try then go for it. if it were me i would kill the aiptasia off a different way like some aiptasia X or joes juice. plus its not a 100% agurentee that the peppermints will even touch the aiptasia and later on they may start to eat corals you put in the tank. its a toss up that alot of people try to decide on, so i wish you good luck with it all
