peppermint shrimp with eggs?

i just looked into my tank a few minutes ago and noticed one of the peppermints and it looks like he/she has eggs under her abdomin.its tail is not sticking out towards the rear,its almost tucked 1/2 under her body.i know when i bought the shrimp none looked like this one does.
1)can i remove him/her and put in a "nursery"?
2)do i provide a slip thru trough so to let the eggs fall away from the parent?
3)do the parents need to "rear" the young?

im in the process of setting up a coral propagation system in the garage(AC'd of course) so i have the ability to use a 10gal thats not being used to dedicate to the eggs.

ill be in front of my computer all day so any advice would be greatly appreciated

my peppermint shrimp gave birth last night. to my knowledge all shrimp hold the eggs under there stomachs until they hatch and then release them. I managed to net some and put them into a small tank to see if I could grow them out. When they hatch they are as small as baby brine shrimp it looked like a snow storm in my tank. My fish loved the shrimp dinner though. If I had a better camera i'd post some pics.

peppermint shrimp will generally hold their eggs for 5-8 ish days I think. while skunk cleaner shrimp will hold theirs for around twenty days. the night the peppermint releases her eggs, the eggs will appear silvery to whitish brown and little silver 'eyes' will be visible. the eggs are a lime green during the first few days of developement.

the parents dont raise their young. and they will release their eggs at the highest point of the tank around midnight, the eggs hatch and the babies swim towards any light they can find when they are released.

anymore questions just ask. they're pretty easy to care for. i fed mine live baby brine, and they would even eat frozen brine, flake and mysid. the only hard thing is cleaning the tank. good luck if your planning on raising them

Dont net them. If you do raise them feed them bbs till you sell them or put them in display.

thanks for the input guys.i have pulled them out of the tank and setup a 10g above the sump with some LR and a small mat of chaeto.you say they reease them at the upper part of the tank?the 10g has a standpipe overflow,should i turn off flow to it at night to prevent the fry from going down the overflow?also should i cover the 10g to block the light.currently my stand is open so it receives some light during the day and then the fuge light comes on which is elow the 10g but above the sump so somee light does transfer?once again thanks for the help....mark

mine released at about 9pm right b4 my lights turned off. you might think about running something other than an overflow something like a large airstone or spongefilter. any powerheads could potentially damage the babies as well. jmo

just lokked in the 10g and noticed the shrimp had expelled the young.i turned off the overflow feed and added some DT's.going to get a brine shrimp hatchery on fri,hope its not too late
