Peppermint shrimp?

One of the rocks I put in my mantis tank is covered in aiptasia. I was thinking of putting a peppermint shrimp in for a few weeks to take care of them. My mantis is (I believe) an N. Werrenae that is about 1.5".

Would the peppermint be fine for a few weeks, or just be a big snack?

pretty much that is what it will become, i know my O. Scyllarus lives to eat camel shrimp, she usually eats them for a little snack and then follows up the meal with a few emeralds, and then has a nice size turbo for desert

I remember somebody, I think it was Thurge, tried adding 3 or 4 peppermints with their mantis and said that the peppermints lasted pretty long. I think that considering the size of your mantis if you added a couple you might have some success. Of course they might just be a snack, but it is worth a shot.

it could be hit or miss, i put 2 damsels, 3 camel shrimp, and a coral banded in my peacocks aquarium and they were all dead in 2 days, another time i put three damsels in and they lasted almost a month

Im getting a mantis next week and bought 2 peppermint shrimp to try to get rid of my aiptasia before the mantis comes in. Its all still there, and im planning on moving them to another tank before i get my new mantis though. I heard its hit or miss whether they eat the aiptasia, and i guess i had a miss.

You could try it, but i dont think they will live long with the mantis. GL

just leave them in there to give the mantis a little snack

lol, i dont know. My girlfriend already named them. I think she would be pretty sad if "Kiwi and Bubba" were a snack...

just say that bubba so happens to like to eat kiwi and then your mantis got angry and ate bubba because the mantis loved kiwi

POS I had a nice erply typed up and the Freaking board won't let me post it here. I keep getting the "search" error.
So you get the short answer.
Yes I have kept peppermints with my mantis, but they went in with the understanding they were probably going to be eaten. They just happened to figure out that the mantis couldn't fit behind the skimmer so they were safe back there. Being nocturnal they would comeout at night while the diurnal mantis was napping, and would go back into hiding as the sun came up.

hmm, looks like thurge has some intelligent peps. I wouldn't throw in any peps with names without the understanding that they'd be food. Less so if a girlfriend is involved...
