I float the bag in the sump and drip acclimate right into the bag. This keeps temperature stable. I don't QT shrimp, so when the drip is done, it's right into the Display.

Thats a good way of doing it if people have a sump or fuge to use. i may have to ty that one later on.

i do not like drip acclimation as it does not keep the temp the same as the tank. the water dripping cools down and the specimen gets used to room tempature. were as floating and adding water while it is floating keeps the tempature the same as the tank.

check out the links i posted and you will see the difference.

im usually a bit picky about adding water from the bag to the tank. old habits i guess.

dripping is the absolute best way to acclimate animals. no questions. if your worried about the temperature change affecting your animal, then simply float the animal for 10 minutes after dripping.

some of us don't have anything to secure a floating bag while adding water to it slowly. or simply don't have the option.

i pour out almost all of the water before i add the animal to the tank. i also dont like adding any other water to my tank and if i know that the fish or invert is comming from a really filthy store then i net it outa the bag. the tempature change occurs when drip acclimating the animal. the whole point of doinf it the way i explained was so the tempature would remain the same the entire time you are acclimating the animal. having the tempature change up and down like that is just going to stress the animal out even more then what it is.
