Perc getting stung?

Noticing a lot of black spots on my clownfish, I caught the lil' devil trying to host in some zoos. My question is, will this behavior eventually stop? I know it would only happen to me once, but this is a fish. Will he ever get it? Also, I am a little intimidated :worried:about getting an anemone, could someone school a newb on what to learn when it comes to keeping these in a small tank?

could be coral stings. It will host anything, and there is no stopping it, short of taking whatever it is trying to host out of the tank. As far as a nem goes, High light, stable & clean water and usually they like some good flow. If your tank is only 4 weeks old, probably not. just get a frogspawn or some xenia for it to host, but in reality it will host whatever it wants, or nothing at all. neither of mine host anything, shoot they are not even friends.

Where did your clown come from? The "SA Fancy" clowns from Sustainable Aquatics are orange to begin with. They slowly start developing black spots until they are black from the top to ¾ of the way down their bodies. It is hard to tell from the pic, but it could be just the color morphing.

One of my clowns had a teeny tiny little black spot that developed shortly after I got him, it's gotten bigger over time.

That don't look like a sting mark to me. Like it was mentioned above, it's changing color. If it host zoos, let it. One of my pairs does it, zoas used to close up when they go to it, but over time, they get adjusted to them. Coral stings look more like little white marks almost like ich. IF they ever get stung, they get used to it over time and won't develop that sting mark anymore. Both of my pairs went through that phrase of getting stung. One pair host zoas, mushrooms, candy cane, etc. The other pair host frogspawn. Took them awhile to host anything, but it happens over time. I've had one pair for over 5 years and one for over 4 years.

I have 3 clowns in one of my tanks. The pair host a very large multi-tierd cap coral and the little single guy hosts my purple and orange cap coral on the other side of the tank. They do not like the soft corals for some reason.
