I got these clowns yesterday from the LFS and they stated the place they got them from said they were percs I do kinda trust them but just wanna find out for sure. they are in QT now so hopefully this pic. is good enough or I can try for new ones or I have a video also.

the larger one looks like occ cuz its dorsal fin looks stubby but ill leave it to someone else to tell u for sure

lol and that was the one I thought was a perc.they are just a little under an inch in size so still juvi's. here is the video. and yes my QT does have LR. I do have a hospital tank though that is bare for treatments

thanks everyone, now I am not sure if I wanna bring them backk for true perc. or just keep them as they are very healthy but I am looking for the blackness of true percs.

it depends on if you want them to host easily or not lol!! they're beautiful fish.
i have 2 true percs who wont host to a thing meanwhile my brother in law has 2 false who hosted to his CONDY!!! either way enjoy they are great fish!

well the hosting part I am not really worried about as this will be mainly an all SPS tank and not sure if I wasnt to introduce a anemone to it even though the wife does lol. and I will agree they are a beautiful pair. who knows maybe I will setup the 46 gal. tank again for the wife for these clowns and her anemone and find me a set of onyx or true percs. lol

They look like occ to me, but if you can get a close up on the eyes that would help. If they charged you extra for true perc, then at least see if you can get the cost difference.

Percs/Ocelaris, wild/CB, I have yet to see any definitive evidence of these factors making a huge difference with a hosting anemone. I once talked to a breeder who introduced two b/w ocellaris into a tank with a haddoni - they went right in immediately and have called it home ever since.

Ocellaris tend to get their third bar much quicker than percs, so if they are as small as you say and they both have fully formed bars it adds more evidence to them being ocellaris. Don't feel too bad though, most LFS can't tell the difference and sell them all as percs.

wow, I haven't cheked this thread in a while.

as for the cost, they were osc. price. 25.00 for the pair.

the LFS actually treats me well so they wouldn't have any problems letting me trade them back for a set of true perc.s however these guys are kinda growing on me. lol

I can try to get better pics of the eyes but I am prob. agreeing with everyone on osc.

They are ocellaris, and that is a good price for a pair. They are very nice fish, not all ocellaris are so colorful which is why I think they get a bad rap, but my ocellaris female was mad colorful with very defined black lines.

Up to you, but I would keep them, and you aren't due anything back as that is a good price for a pair.
