I recently purchased a baby percula clown, its more on the yellow side, rather than orange. I was told if fed more pellets it will change collor to orange. Can someone shed some light on the subject. I never heard of this before so I thought i would ask here.

Tank raised usually arent as orange, but thats not always true. A good diet, and good lighting can help as well.
What lights do you have? Have you added a nem?

I bought a few years back "the new and cool yellow Ocellaris clown".All it was,was a small clownfish TR fish without the full coloration pigments. The fish was really small too.Thats why there was the yellow color!

How big is the fish you are looking at?

I am currently using T5 lights 6 bulb 4feet long. I have a clown already, Its very bright orange. The other one is more yellow and is about 1/2-3/4 of a ich long. I dont think its tank raised thou.

Yes, they do seem to change colors. I have noticed that they may be slightly pale when first introduced into a new tank. They also seem to get darker once they mature, establish a pair bond and have an anemone.

I noticed recently that my PNG Perculas have lost some of their black along the top. I move them two months ago from a 120g tank with MH lighting to a 75g with T5 lighting. I am not sure exactly what caused it as the diet is the same. The 75g has over 40 RBTAs in it while the 120g had a lone purple sebae.

Man thats tiny! If its a Perc it will take a long time to grow. Give it time to color up. Feed him a good diet.
