How many spines should a perc have versus an ocellaris?

Wow, thats a good one Austin.
Here are my thoughts.
General color tells me percula. Height of dorsal says percula. I can't count the dorsal rays. Eye color looks more ocellaris, but neither of my perculas have the classic orange iris we normally associate with perculas either. The almost lack of black around the stripes is something I associate more with percula than ocellaris.
My guess is percula, either a young TR or WC from the Solomon Islands.

at first glance it looked more like on ocellaris it was my understanding that the ocellaris has thinner black lines outlining the white stripe and perculas had thicker black lines (who knows maybe I got it backwards) But I do also count 9 spines which leans to Percula. This always leads me back to my own clowns, One is much darker and I can only count 9 spines and has much thicker black lines, and the other is a much lighter orange with 10 spins and very thin black lines, I think I may have one Perc and one Oc myself which is funny since they both came from the same tank listing Oc clowns

But I got the location wrong.
This brings up a question I have had for a while. According to Fautin and Allen, Sulawesi is not in the range of A. percula. However, one of the biggest wholesalers in the country brings in fish that are obviously true percs from Bali. I have always meant to ask them if they are caught near Bali or just shipped from there. It is certainly possible that the Fautin and Allen book is wrong on this account (they have been before
). I doubt Bali collectors would go all the way to PNG to catch clownfish, but who knows.I'm not looking for an answer, just thinking out loud really.

Nah, you got it right on the lines. However, the black edging on the white bands isn't a reliable indicator of species. As you see here, this Percula has little to no black.
I would bet that your clowns are both Ocellaris, but I obviously have no idea. You could post a picture to be sure

Oh, soooo sorry. Its a berNese mountain dog. They come from Bern, Switzerland, not Burma.
If you were approaching a breeder to get a dog, calling it a bermese would be a big no no.
Most people who have them call them berners for short.They are great dogs, but lots of health problems.

Ouch. Tough crowd. I have heard about their health issues. This is certainly a concern of mine.
