Percula or Oscillaris & compatability

Sorry if this is a beaten to death topic. But im still not sure of which is the best route to go...As a matter of fact, what is the biggest difference besides coloration? I mean, aggressiveness? Hardiness? .... I of course want something that will be easier to take care of/hardy. Aggression also, I am staying far away from maroons as I know how they can be (friend of mine had a HUGE one and it was a real pita). Also, is it ok to mix different color varients? Like blacks and oranges? will they pair up the same, or do i need to stick to the same type?.

Also, i would be placing them with a purple pseudochromis & eibli angel. will they be ok with those two? those will be the only fish in my tank (the angel, pseudo and 2 clowns)...he is the sole survivor in my tank, i had a power outtage from the snow storm we got and all my other fish died (1 coral beauty,1 wrasse and 2 blue/green chromis).

ocellaris is the easiest to feed, most hardy, most peaceful, tank bred, environment friendly, used to a captive environment, and smallest. you can mix and match colors and they may pair up.

Yeah, whichever one you get, just make sure you get a tank raised one. There is no need to get wild clownfish nowadays.

A good rule is to never mix species (color morphs of the same species are OK) and , once sexually mature, never keep more than one mated pair of any clowns in the same tank. I know it works sometimes; but mated clowns, of any species, will seldom tolerate other clowns in the same tank. As they grow and pair off, all the little juvis in the same tank, just doesn't work anymore.

so as long as I get either two perculas or two oscillaris i should be ok? i kinda figured mixing a perc. with osc. wouldn't be a good thing to do... just wasent sure if the color made a difference. Oh and i knew not to keep more then 1 pair, not a risk that I would want to take haha. I will also make sure they are tank raised, i read something about that it is less stressful on the fish.

tank raised have a much higher survival rate. get two ocellaris as most are tank raised. should be ok with the chromis

If you want something with personality go Percula.The only draw back is the rate in which they grow. They grow slower than ocellaris . I would agree with a couple of the above comments. I would not mix.I t can be done but more often then not it ends up in death. I would also agree with tank raised clowns. No more wild caught clowns for me. Most the times you end up having to deal with Brook.
