Perfect Clownfish?

I am curious what is a perfect clown fish? So if a clown fish is born without a pectoral fin then it not a perfect clown fish? So doe that mean that Nemo is a retarded clown fish. I had a pair of Rod's Onxy clown fish both were brought at the same time directly from Rod. They were the more expensive ones because they were already starting to develope the black part. I am very happy with the pair of clown fish. The female was missing the pectoral fin and the male was missing a side fin like Nemo. Some one told me these were not worth much because they were missing these fin. Is this true, i think they are unique and i think they are beautiful even if they are missing some fins. I started the thread because i want to know what makes a perfect clown fish. thanks.

Beauty, or in this case, perfection is in the eye of the beholder. In nature it is likely a clownfish like nemo, if its swimming ability was impaired, may be eaten before a healthy agile specimen would.

However, one could also argue that Nemo being left alone without a family technically should have been a girl ;p

Depends on what you have a clown for...if you are going to breed then genetically they need to be perfect...no deformities, the best example of their species etc. We have that responsibility as breeders. If they are pets in a tank then get the one that catches your eye. IMO.

the perfect clown fish is the one you like..it dosent matter what joe blow thinks of your fish unless your name is joe blow.. i have a perfect scribbled angel and she lost any eye from an infection and she is still perfect in my eyes

Is there such a thing as "perfect" maybe as near to perfect as possible. I think it would be irresponsible to raise the fry of defective or deformed clowns, why further these abnormalities. My spawning ocellaris are perfect um....near perfect.

Ktar, you didn't just call Nemo retarded did you? He had a physical handicap. I loved that movie!

Your friend is right but like the others have posted it really doesnt matter unless you plan to breed them.

The things breeders look for are missing or under developed gill plates, missing fins, missing vertabrea, under or over bites, missbarring and body/head shape to name a few I can think of right now.

How bout this one for perfect?
