I was stunned to find 3 saddle backs at the local petco store.
Their tanks have zero live rock, fresh water gravel bottoms, and they are constantly cycling with bubble algae, etc. They mostly have beginner salt water fish like false perculas, damsels, yellow tangs, etc. with fluorescent lighting.
Predictably, the saddle backs didn't look very good. One had a gaping yellow month and probably already mortally wounded. The other two had yellow spots on their months but did look completely ill yet.
It just seemed mind numbingly irresponsible for the store to have these anemones without being able to care for them. Much less, they didn't have a price on them, so hard to say what they intended to do with the anemones.
All around, just a sad situation. I guess it's best to swear off going to that store, but I stop by occasionally to pick up some small animal food.
