Just did a reading this morning. WHat do I do. This is a new tank that has cycled for about 2 weeks. Ammonia 0, Nitrates 0, Nitrite, 0, Salinity - 1023, temp - 79 calcium 480, all corals and fih look healthy.

Hmmm 7.4?
How did you measure it?
Sounds like you are using a test kit and not a probe.

Did you just start a new test kit? Maybe the chemicals expired. Did you test more than once to validate a reading like that? If you need a clean test tube as part of your test, are you absolutely sure that it was clean and chemical free to start with?

Im a newbie too, and I am pretty sure there is something wrong with this sentence. My tank has cycled and is 3 weeks old yesterday. I still dont have any coral or fish, just a couple of cleaners. Everything I have read says to wait at least 6 months before adding any coral. In my 'inexperience', that tells me that maybe your tank isnt mature enough to handle the load or support the pH yet, even though your other readings are good. There are some articles on topping off with lime water to keep your pH up, that may be related too.

took a water sample to my lfs and got a reading of 7.8. My 7 month mature 10 G was transferred to the 65 about a week ago.

I dont get it. Just took another test and it's at 8.2 where its always been.

Get a PH probe. The PH test kits are very unreliable!
