pH and Kalkwasser

I have reciently bought a Knop C calcium reactor. It works great. Only problem is that it brings my pH down. So i started dosing Kalwasser. This took care of the problem, but now i am constantly making solutions to drip into my tank( 72 gallon). I dont have a sump and so i have to hang a gallon jug above the tank. I make at least 3 solutions a day. I am interested if there is any easier way to dose the kalkwasser. So that i dont have to constantly make up solutions to drip. I have heard of kalkwasser reactors or dosers but i am not sure if this is what i need. Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks.

Most people automate dosing Kalwasser with a Kalkreactor; there are many companies that make such devices. Most have the top off water slowly run/drip through the reactor when the water level in the sumps is low. If you want the AquaController to control this, then you will need to hook up a float switch to the external switch inputs of the controller. The AquaController would then turn on/off a solenoid valve or pump to add water through the Kalreactor.

Thank you Curt for replying but i have a few more questions for you. I have looked at those. Is it possible to set those beside the tank and pump them from there into the tank. What I can tell from reading. It can be hooked up to and automatic doser. I have a pH controller. So theoretically the kalkreactor would alutmatically dose the tank when the pH got to low. If i hooked the doser to the reactor and the reactor to the pH controller. And with those dosers all i have to do is unscrew the cap on the top and pour in water and kalkwasser. Or do i have to hook the reactor to a water line. Also would it be better to just try to add a second cylinder to my calcium reactor and try to catch the excess CO2. Because this is the only reason that my pH is to low in the first place.

I recommend asking these questions in the general equipment forum, as you probably get more answers. I don't know the specific details on the Kalk reactors, as I have never purchased one.

A second chamber will scrub off some of the co2 but not all! You still need to get an automatic dosing pump and run it off of your ph setpoint. I have my pump set up to dose kalk when the ph falls below 7.8

Since modifying my K2R so that it recirculates any excess CO2 I have noticed two things. First the CO2 consumption is much less (about 1/2), second is that the tank pH will not drop below 7.9 now.

I still drip limewater at night; it keeps my system pH between 8.1 and 8.2. I use the following command to turn the peristaltic pump on at night only:

If Sun 000/000 ON/OFF Then KLK OFF
