anyone have any suggestions on what brand to get and where to find the best price? i saw one made by reef fanatic for 70 bucks.

I really like the Pinpoint equipment, I have also had Milwakee, but in my opinion pinpoint is far more accurate and reliable.
I dunno who has the best prices, I wil look into the major online retailers.

I like the all in one idea, the only disadvantage that I see is that if something the controller fails or breaks and you have to send to replace or be repair you are out of everything. (timers, ph controller, orp controller, temp controller etc) then what do you do?

get the extended warranty!

lol kidding asside, i agree i think seperate components would be ideal.(space permiting)

same theory as those all in one printer/copier scanners. if 1 part craps out, your SOL with all of it.

well if you end up ordering one offline or anything let me know the cheapest place because I need to get a sensor??? for a pinpoint ph meter. thanks!

I just ordered a salinity monitor from pinpoint, I should be getting it thursday so Ill let you guys know. Ive been doing a lot of research and a friend of mine has the ph monitor and he seems to be quite satisfied. In fact, I plan on buying one myself.

titus keep us informed about the salinity meter. There is talk of them being great, and talk of them being totally unreliable. I'm sure more people than just I are interested in hearing your experience.

I use the pinpoint pH and salinity meters. Both have worked great for me. I check the calibration every few months and the only major shift I saw was with the pH probe in the first 6 months. Since then they've been pretty consistent.

Jeff, what do you mean with the first 6 months, how did it get better?

When I re-calibrated after the first 6 months, the probe had drifted and was reading high by about 0.2, which is a pretty significant change.

Since then, I've checked it several times and it's always been within a few hundredths at both calibration points.
