PH Buffer

Your Alkalinity is too low, and your Calcium is too high. I'm not sure why this has occured, but this is something that needs to be corrected soon. Your corals could be stressed.

Check here to identify your problem and how to fix it. You're in Zone 4 - http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/chem.htm

Just curious but has your tank been cloudy? Or have you seen a lot of whitish "dirt" build up on your heater and powerheads?

I have been using Oceanic salt and just switched last week to IO and did a 50 Gal water change.

Thanks Again

i would think with a water or chage or two with IO your Ca will drop and your Alk will raise to the levels where you can restart your reactor to keep them where you want them
i know oceanic is pretty unbalanced as far as there Ca and Alk
keep us posted

Charlie,

THanks I fell like for the last month it has all gon wrong LOL

No matter what I was dosing the Ca would alway shoot up to 600 and the Alk would be around 5 DKH... I have about 180 Gal total and added 2.25 Table spoons of Seachem Carbonate Alk Buffer and it was still at 5.5 so I am getting lost.

Thanks Agian

is that buffer a liquid? if it is i would suggest a powder like Kents superbuffer DKH or even try the baked baking soda method

the powdered buffers seem to work better/go alot farther IMO
