Ph concerns

My tank maintains a ph level of 7.8 peak and 7.6 low, it got like this since vinegar dosing. Just wondering if I should go through the effort of trying to get it up to 8.2 or just let it sit where it's stable at.

I would try and get it up to 7.7 minimum, 7.8 if it's not too much work. Running the skimmer intake outside is a big help, or dosing a little Kalk at night (keep in mind this will alter KH so adjust dosing accordingly).

Ok well I'm at 7.8 for high point but you think I should bump up from 7.6 to 7.7 on the low side?

What do you use to measure your pH? If a meter is it properly calibrated? Both the idea's of the use of kalk and an airline between the skimmer's air intake and an outside air source will help.

You say bump it up, so I have to warn to NEVER use chemical that will adjust PH ever. Done, end of story. KH must remain stable and anything that alters PH will spike KH and do serious harm to SPS corals. :)

Calibrated probe less than a month ago (reef keeper). All corals growing good and coloring up nicely, just tryin to fine tune things. Have always heard that ph should be between 8 &8.3 but I dose 40ml of vinegar daily and now my ph is a solid 7.7 since i started dosing about 9 months now as opposed to 8.2 previously.
No ill effects in the tank just curious about it.

If all is OK.....then enjoy the tank and let it cycle between that range.

I'm lucky if I have ever seen my probe read above 8 unless I have just performed a water change (comes back down after a few minutes) or a can leave windows open all day. I heard not to worry too much about ph. I have thought of ways to try bring it up... But I don't like skimmer line outside idea as have no control over insecticide spraying or whatever. Never used kalk, don't really want to either, seems like a hassle.
