Ph drop?

I cant remember when the ph drops? Is it at night or in the morning or just from at night to morning with the lights off. I just took a reading and it's 8.0 but my lights wont come on untill 10. Should i just test agian after the lights have been on for a while? Thanks

sorry i found the answer. Ph is at its highest during the end of the light cycle and lowest during the night. So i presume that my ph is in the right range because it should rise during the day. I never tested my ph in the morning allways at night....go figure!

pH will drop at night when the photosyntetic organisms stop producing oxygen and start producing carbon dioxide. This is why if you have a sump/refugium it is a good idea to have your photoperiod of the fuge on a reverse cycle (on at night), that way the pH doesn't fluctuate as much.

I have a hang on back filter with cheto in it with a light on it at night. Im working on a sump right now.
