7.8 - 8.5 are considered minimum and maximum.
lowered pH at night is from the corals expelling CO2 from the daytime feeding.
higher in the day, there is more oxygen in the water than CO2.
if you have an airline ran from outside to your skimmer, it will stay pretty regulated diurnal. (day to night)
