pH help

Dead coral won't maintain the pH in your tank. You will need to maintain all chemical parameters through water changes and additives or reactors.

Keeping pH, Calcium and Alkalinity in proper ranges is something that you need to work on at the same time for all.

Well right now I have had my tank up for a few years with regular maintnance and added no suppliments besides the dead coral, such as crushed coral, and my pH has never changed from 8.2. I wanna get rid of this ugly coral to put live rock in, along with my live sand, and I dont feel like buying a calcium reactor, so any suggestions on maintaining a proper pH?

How about I send you in the perfect direction for help with that... ;)

I know someone who(along with his minions ;) ) can and will help you along the way. :D

How to keep stability sans reactors.

interested? :)

Oh yea i probably should have mentioned it is fish only. I forgot taht i was not posting in the fish only thread. I must have confused both of you.

As Darren mentioned, dead corals will not do anything to maintain pH unless it drops below 7.8. They simply do not dissolve in seawater unless the pH is low.

How are you measuring pH?
Have you ever measured alkalinity in the water?

I measured the alkalinity a while back i cant remember what it was but i have a high range pH test that I used to test and it remains at 8.2
