ph levels

Which are your average ph levels in your tanks with macro, or refugiums?Mine are 8,47 in the morning and 8,50 in the evening ,measured with a reef fanatic ph monitor!!I am staring the tank these days and I don;t have much livestock in there. It is a 100 gallon tank and it has a 50 g refugium with caulerpa and pc lighting.

Those numbers are pretty high. I would expect to see a fluctuation somewhere between 7.8 and 8.3. Anything outside that range and you start to get into the danger zone. Have you calibrated the probe lately?

It is normal in any heavily planted tank to see high pH during hours of illumination with low co2 due to photosynthesis. The pH will drop during dark hours when co2 levels increase. A reverse/daylight photoperiod over the refugium will prevent extreme pH swings, but these are generally do not cause a problem. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.
Be more concerned about KH & Ca levels.

Sorry for the delay....
My alk is 3 meqV, Ca=390, Mg=1200, and I light the refugium 24/7 with 55watt pc lamp

8.4 is fine...around that level phosphate is best precipitated by kalkwasser!!!!

your numbers sound fine really as long as they are stable,,,,stability is far more important than the actual numbers as long as numbers are reasonable and yours are......

only thing is you could stand to get CA up slightly to about 400-420 and MG to abou 1300..alk looks rock solid
