pH probe life

Curt,

How long can I expect the standard grage pH probe to last? How often does it need to be calebrated? What is the difference between the standard grade and lab grade probes that Neptune sells.

Typical lifetime of pH and ORP probes are 12 to 24 months. There are two advantages to lab grade probes:

- Higher quality junction which results in a longer probe lifetime.
- Epoxy seal on the tip of the probe. The seal makes the probe pressure rated so that it can be mounted in inline fittings.

We recommend that the probe is calibrated once a month. However, you can usually calibrate much less frequently. If the probe readings are deviating from their normal trends, and it has been a while since the last calibration, then the first calibrate the probe. You can then see if the probe was just drifting out of calibration, or of the deviation was caused by a real change in the tank.
