pH test kits

I have been using the old API pH test kits for years now. I have been dealing with pH issues (again) lately and, out of curiosity, I brought a calibrated pH meter home from work the other night. Well the test kit wasn't even close. I even checked the standard solution three times to make sure the calibration was good. Not long ago, I tried two API to see if they agreed with each other and they did. I now have no faith in the test kits.

I found a pocket-sized industrial pH meter in a catalog at work, but it was $200. Surely there is a better alternative.

Check out milwaukee, they make some PH meters, I picked one up from a guy in PHX, for $10.. It definatly has come in handy.

I have a Milwaukee one I'll sell for $20 but you need to buy a ph probe. They do work but you need to calibrate them every once in a while. I had to replace the ph probe about once a year.
Test kits fluctuate quite a bit depending on the brand and age of the kit. A properly calibrated ph probe is a better option.
