pH

I know this sounds stupid. But what is the safest way to increase your pH ONLY without any affects on Alkalinity etc?

The best thing you can do is throw away your PH test kit and ignore it..
You will effect alk trying to mess with it and the ph will fight to stay where it was..

Seriously.. Ignore it and let it be what its going to be..

Again, mcgyvr and I are on the same page. I have not tested pH in 25 years or so. It is so dependent on time of day/air circulation in the house/etc etc etc that it is just not something we should worry about.

I agree...if you have a sump you can add a refugium with some cheato and run a light on it during hours when your tank lights aren't on and it will help keep the PH stable.

What is the pH value? How are you measuring it?

I agree that it isn't worth stressing over, or possibly even measuring.

You can open your house up, or run your skimmer air intake outside. Or use kalk instead of alk supplements, of course this raises alk and pH.

Raising your pH does have some benefits but as posted above it usually isn't worth the effort. You can run an oversized airline from your skimmer (assuming you have one) to outside the house and that often helps a little by introducing air with less CO2 into your skimmer. You can also use a reactor with a CO2 absorption media in it and feed that into your skimmer to raise your pH safely. If you pH is consistently below 8.0 measured with a calibrated pH probe then raising your pH will likely increase your stony coral growth rate.
