Ph?!

All of our parameters are spot on, expect PH, it keeps hanging around 7.7, and goes the whole way down to 7.1! (With lights on) we set up a Co2 scrubber, which does increase it, but not by much. Everything seems happy and healthy, but wed really like to get our ph back up and stay there. Cross tested the ph with a hannah probe and the apex probe, and they both read the same. Our red sea test kit is reading at 8.3, and both probes (just calibrated) both read 7.6. Why the variation and how can we get it up and keep it up??

Ugh, hubby is correcting me. I swear he said 7.1... saying now the lowest was 7.4 but its averaging around 7.6, and our high (according to apex) is 7.9

7.4 is still unlikely unless you have a lot of co2 in the air around the tank....do you have a gagle of people in a closed up house ?

"Chasing PH is a waste of time if the tank does well.
The only thing that helps is fresh air if you can."

If we say the same think about us ( human ) PH is NOT important , we end up in Hospital or worst.
For us is 3 ways to check
Saliva
Urine
Blood ( most accurate )

Few ways to increase PH.

Run INtake hose for Protein Skimmer direct from OUTside ( got more fresh air IN)
If you check the CO2 Outside is around 435-450 ppm , INside the room you have your tank may be 650ppm UP, good way to decrees CO2 in that room is to install a small fan.

If you use Calcium Reactor ? Check PH of the effluent , if is low (6.7-6.8 PH) run the effluent before go to swamp or tank to the one container , run air pump in that container (also INtake air from OUTside) you will gain list 0.5 PH up.

If is possible run one water pump in main tank take in water from bottom trow water out close to water surf that way you will remove CO2 from tank.

Never cover the tank. Keep low Alk.

In my opinion is NO benefit to run Acid tank in stand Natural way Alkaline , just like Ocean , unless you love Green ( i mean all kind of Algaes)
